HEATED
It was nearly pitch black when I awoke, though, through the curtains of the bed, I could just make out the soft light of Lumina streaming through the window. My throat was dry, so I quickly pulled out my spatial grimoire, opened my storage space, and pulled out a waterskin.
After slaking my thirst, I glanced over at Alex. She was sound asleep beside me, her skirt bunched up around her hips and her blouse halfway unbuttoned. Her hair was scattered in chaos across her face, but sheâd never looked more beautiful to me.
âThanks for coming with me, Alex,â I whispered. âI couldnât do this without you.â
As I sat up, I yawned and ran a hand through my own ratâs nest of hair. I was going to have to spend some time working out all the tangles, but for right now, I just tied it back out of my face.
After Iâd tied it, a low rumble echoed from my stomach.
Guess we missed dinnerâ¦
By the looks of things, weâd slept for a long time. Though, I couldnât say that both of us hadnât needed it.
I yawned again and stretched, though as I did, I got a whiff of myself, and I recoiled slightly.
Yeah, I definitely need a bath.
Syl had said the baths were in the opposite hall, and I desperately needed one.
With that, I gently slipped out of bed and briefly debated throwing on my shirt Iâd taken off, but one look at it, and I knew better. Iâd rather go shirtless than put it on again.
Besides, I had clothes in my storage space, so I could change in the bath after I was clean.
Heading out of the room, I slipped down the hallway. When I reached the stairway, voices and movement echoed from below me. It appeared that the elves were still wide awake and working, but I simply ignored them as I headed across the hall to the baths.
I opened the first door I came to, and a wave of heat and steam greeted me as I stepped into the room. Unlike most of the rest of the embassy, this room was made of stone, and though there was a hint of wood around, it had to have been enchanted to resist the moisture in the air.
A small shelf sat by the door with towels and washrags, as well as a small bowl with soap sitting inside it. There was also a bench and a place to store clothes, while a white curtain separated the changing area from the actual bath.
It appeared I was alone, so I quickly stripped and stowed away my clothes before grabbing a towel, washrag, and a bar of soap.
With everything in hand, I walked into the bath itself.
The room was rather barren, save for the wide depression in the center of the floor. Though it was called a bath, it was more like a pool with how large it was. A set of stone steps led into the bath itself, and the water was cloudy with steam.
